  • “Recent Seasonal Distribution Changes in Arizona Birds,” by AZFO President and Arizona Breeding Bird Atlas coordinator, Troy Corman
  • “Beaver reintroduction in relation to breeding birds of conservation concern along the upper San Pedro River,” by Glenn Johnson, researcher in western U.S. and northern Mexico and currently a graduate student at UA.

Morning mini-field expeditions to seldom-visited areas in southern Arizona.  Trips will be to:
  • seldom visited areas on the eastern slope of the Santa Rita Mountains led by John Yerger

  • Cook's Lake and San Pedro River: Special permission has been obtained to bird this riparian habitat between Mammoth and Dudleyville that is not normally open to the public, led by Troy Corman

  • Esperanza Ranch: This area along the upper Santa Cruz River south of Tucson is an Audubon State Important Bird Area, led by Scott Wilbor

Workshop:

  • Bird Sound Recording:  Master bird recordist Pierre Deviche will lead a field workshop on equipment and techniques for bird sound recording in the Santa Catalina mountains

Costs (see link below to register):
    The dinner will be $25 for all, which is due by 15 October and nonrefundable after 21 October.
    Registration (in advance or walk-ins welcome):
      AZFO Members:  No cost.
      Nonmembers are welcome and encouraged to attend all events.  Registration $10, deducted from your annual dues if you decide to join AZFO that weekend.

    WANTED: USED BOOKS

    We ask for donations of gently used bird-related books and audiovisual materials.  Donations are tax deductible.  Books must be received by 17 October.
    For the Tucson area please email Vivian MacKinnon at arcvivian@yahoo.com to arrange drop-off or pick-up.
    For pick-up in the Phoenix area email Marceline Vandewater at fieldtrips@cazba.org or drop them off at one of the Audubon Meetings (Desert Rivers, Maricopa, or Sonoran Audubon) in early fall.
    To arrange pickup in all other areas email Marceline Vandewater at fieldtrips@cazba.org.
