Heermann's Gull (Larus heermanni), Benson WTP, Cochise County

This adult Heermann's Gull was discovered and photographed by Peter Collins on 29 April 2010 during its brief stop at the Benson Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Heermann's Gull is a causal visitor to SE Arizona and occurs nearly year round.  These gulls are notorious "one day wonders" in Arizona and never remain in one place for long in the state.

Adult Heermann's Gull is unmistakable.
