Little Gull (Hydrocoloeus minutus ), Lake Havasu, Mohave County

This Little Gull was discovered by William Sutton and John Saba and photographed by William Sutton on 23 September 2010.  It was first identified by Michael Moore from these photos.  The bird was seen from a boat on a sand bar north of the state park while William and John were chasing the previously reported jaegers.

No previous records for Arizona.  Apparently, Arizona is the only one of the lower 48 states without Little Gull on its state list.

Juvenile plumage. Tiny size, not much larger than Common Tern next to it.  White underparts, black upperparts and prominent black cap.
