Yellow-bellied Sapsucker (Sphyrapicus varius), Anza Trail, Tumacacori, Santa Cruz County

This Yellow-bellied Sapsucker was discovered by John Saba on 11 December 2010 and photographed by Dick Dionne on 02 January 2011.

Rare fall transient and winter visitor. A few reported every year.

The other sapsuckers molt into adult plumage by September. Any immature sapsucker after that time is a Yellow-bellied.
