Cassin's Sparrow (Peucaea cassinii), Lake Havasu, Mohave CountyThis Cassin's Sparrow was photographed by Lauren Harter on 26 September 2011. Rosenberg et al. (1991) lists only one record of Cassin's Sparrow in the Lower Colorado River Valley, from La Paz County in 1981. The only Mohave County sightings
the observers are aware of are from Peach Springs on the eastern edge of the county this summer.
Cassin's Sparrow from Peach Springs. The lightly streaked breast, scaly/streaky pattern on the back and crown, tertials and greater coverts dark with white edging, fairly plain face pattern, and yellow on the supraloral and at the bend of the wing all point to Cassin's Sparrow. 26 September 2011, photo by Lauren Harter All photos are copyrighted© by photographer |
