Varied Thrush (Ixoreus naevius), Upper Madera Canyon, Santa Cruz County

This Varied Thrush was discovered by Peter and Jane Wolfe on 03 November 2012 and photographed by Laurens Halsey on 08 November 2012

Rare migrant and winter visitor throughout much of the state, at least a few Varied Thrushes have been reported annually in recent years. Few records for Madera Canyon, this is possibly the first photo documented.

Unmistakable. Eyeline, breast band, wing pattern separate from all superficially similar species.
