Sabine's Gull (Xema sabini), Sweetwater Wetlands, Pima County

This Sabine's Gull was discovered by Molly Pollock on 12 October 2012 and photographed by Andrew Core the same day.

Rare but regular (usually annual) migrant throughout Arizona; most records are from the fall.

Small gull with brownish neck and back, and a slightly forked tail. In flight, the Sabine's Gull has a very distinctive wing pattern.
