Cinnamon x Green-winged Teal (Anas cyanoptera x carolinensis), Gilbert Water Ranch, Maricopa County

This Cinnamon x Green-winged Teal was found by Scott Christopher on 8 December 2013 and photographed by Andrew Core on 16 December and by Pierre Deviche on 19 January.

Many species of ducks hybridize, but this is apparently a rare combination of Cinnamon Teal (Anas cyanoptera) x Green-winged or Common Teal (Anas carolinensis or Anas crecca).

This bird shows characteristic green and rufous head of a male Green-winged Teal and cinnamon body of a Cinnamon Teal. Additionally, it was similar in size to other Green-winged Teals.
