Orchard Oriole (Icterus spurius), Sherwood Heights, Scottsdale, Maricopa County

This Orchard Oriole was found by Allison Shock on 13 February 2017 and photographed by Jim Ripley on 14, 15 and 17th February 2017

This is potentially a returning bird as apparently last year in early Feb a Orchard Oriole visited the same feeders. The photo of the oriole perched high in a mesquite tree was taken on 14 Feb., the photo of the oriole nudging into a Chuparosa bush was taken on 15 Feb. and the hummingbird feeder photo was taken on 17 Feb.

Casual migrant and winter visitor statewide.

Adult males with black hood and rufous body are unmistakable.
