A fairly common breeding bird of the southeastern U.S. as far west as the beginning of the Great Plains.  It winters in southern Mexico and beyond.  A bird typically found in moist, lush river bottom vegetation, this bird came into a birdbath in Tolleson, no doubt looking to cool off from the desert heat.
