Red Knot (Calidris canutus), Willcox Lakes, Cochise County

The Red Knot is a casual fall transient in Arizona. In southeast Arizona, where there are fewer than 10 records, it occurs from late July through there late September. This molting adult was found at Willcox by Brennan Mulrooney on 29 July 2006 and stayed to be enjoyed by many through 1 August. Due to its rarity, it is an Arizona Bird Committee Review Species. This bird was well documented by several photographers.
