Streak-backed Oriole (Icterus pustulatus), Patagonia

This adult Streak-backed Oriole was found by G. Rosenberg on private property along Sonoita Cr. during the Patagonia CBC on Dec. 18, 2005. It represents only the second documented record for Santa Cruz Co., with the first for the county being photographed near Tumacacori earlier in the same year. Amazingly, this was one of three Streak-backed Orioles documented in Arizona in 2005.

The Streak-backed Oriole is an Arizona Bird Committee review species. It occurs less than annually in southern Arizona and accidentally in northern Arizona. Nests have been discovered near Dudleyville and Marana.
