Trumpeter Swan (Cygnus buccinator), Santa Cruz and Pima Counties

This family of Trumpeter Swans was first found at Kino Springs in Santa Cruz County on 6 January 2006 by Rick and Ricki Thompson and they stayed there until 9 January.  They were photographed by Larry Smith on 8 January 2006.  Presumably the same family was relocated at Corona de Tucson Wastewater Treatment Plant on 15 January 2006 by Bill Howard and the family stayed there until 26 January 2006.  At this location, they were photographed by Al Tozier on 22 January 2006.

Trumpeter Swan is an Arizona review species. There are only a handful of records for Arizona, but because of on going and aggressive re-introduction programs in North America, sightings in Arizona may be expected to increase.
