White-cheeked Pintail (Anas bahamensis), Gilbert Water Ranch, Maricopa County
White-cheeked Pintail is a native to the Bahama Islands, the West Indies and South America. They are widely held in captivity and sightings in the U.S., even of birds found in Florida are considered escapes. White-cheeked Pintails are occasionally reported in Arizona, but their frequency of occurrence is poorly known since many escaped exotics go unreported. This individual was found on 08 September 2006 by Jim Kopitzke and photographed that same day by Brendon Grice.
