Don't Miss the 11th Annual AZFO Meeting! 20-22 October 2017

The 11th annual AZFO state meeting is heading to Cottonwood for 2017! This year’s meeting will be held at the Quality Inn, minutes from the historic downtown Cottonwood and Clarkdale in the Verde Valley. The Cottonwood and surrounding area has a good number of birding hotspots, and let’s not forget the under-explored areas! The meeting will feature mini-expeditions to a handful of the under-birded locations; presentations about ongoing research on the status, behavior, and distribution of Arizona birds; a chance to put your skills to the test with an audio and visual identification contest; and opportunities to learn about how you can become more involved with AZFO. Saturday night’s keynote speaker will be Doug Von Gausing, Mayor of Clarkdale and Executive Director of the Verde River Institute. He will share his insights on the avifauna of the Verde Valley, especially T&E species, and how the huge conservation efforts centered on the Verde have affected avifauna. Doug will also be hosting a kayak trip to a limited number of AZFO members on Friday. Hope to see you there!

More information about the meeting, youth scholarships, registration, and the Call for Papers and Posters is here. We look forward to seeing you at the meeting!
