AZFO Youth Scholarships

Thanks to support from the Maricopa and Prescott Audubon Societies, AZFO's youth scholarships help young, aspiring ornithologists attend our annual meeting through financial support, lodging, and more!

Arizona Field Ornithologists is pleased to provide financial assistance for young people interested in field ornithology to attend AZFO's annual meeting.

Awardees of AZFO's Youth Scholarship will receive:

Free admission to AZFO's annual meeting

Funding to support transportation to/from the annual meeting

Lodging for two nights

A ticket to the annual meeting banquet

A one-year AZFO membership

Eligibility and Requirements:

Applicants must be middle school, high school, or undergraduate students

Awardees will be required to submit an essay describing their experience at the AZFO annual meeting. This essay will be posted on the AZFO website and on social media. (Scroll down to read about the experiences of past awardees).

To be considered for an AZFO Youth Scholarship, please send the following to president@azfo.org by August 18th, 2025.

A letter of recommendation from a parent, adult mentor, teacher, or professor outlining the applicant's interest in Arizona's birds.

A one-page essay by the applicant describing their interest in Arizona's birds.
